It’s been a long time since I’ve busted out a blog post. I want to get in the habit of writing about each and every one of my shoots, but after I did this session with Cady, things EXPLODED! In all the best ways.

As I began this journey with my new photography biz, I started doing trade shoots just to find my groove with things. It wasn’t long before inquiries came in about my fees for sessions. That’s when I realized I had a lot more work to do business wise.

I had no prices set, no system in place, no business plan, and no clear direction in which I wanted to go with my photography.

So, I busted out a couple more trade shoots, and got to work! That’s where I’ve been the last few months…doing all the adulting things and setting the foundation for my little business.

Enough about where I’ve been, let’s talk about this shoot!

Not only do I love Cady because her name is spelled like the character from Mean Girls (whatever, I’m getting cheese fries), but she’s one of those people that you meet and have an instant connection with. You feel like you can talk to her about anything, and she just makes a person feel comfy!

At this point, I wasn’t very confident in my ability to pose someone for a shoot that wasn’t my husband or our dogs, so my anxiety was through the roof.

We got downtown, parked at the very tip top of a parking garage (where we would later end the session), and wandered around downtown.

I was MIND BLOWN when Cady told me she had only been in front of a professional camera twice. TWICE! She was a natural! It was so hard picking out favorites from this one because they were all THAT good.

As the sun started to set, we made our way back to the top of the parking garage, I almost lost my sunglasses off the side of the building while showing her a pose to do (don’t worry, no sunglasses were harmed in the making of these photos), and we got some killer magic hour shots.

All in all, this session was magical, and I can’t wait to shoot with Cady again.
