I think we can all agree that baby bumps are the cutest thing ever. Capturing the moments before baby meets the world is so beautiful, and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to photograph this special time in their lives.

Ashley and Garret are expecting a baby boy very soon, and I finally understand what people mean when they say a woman is “glowing” during pregnancy. Ashley looked absolutely STUNNING in her dress, and I could feel her love for that baby during this session. I think Garret had his own glow going on too!

These two were so much fun to hang out with for the evening! I can’t wait to see all the photos of their beautiful baby boy when he arrives!

I love love! And I love capturing love! Megan and Wade volunteered as tribute when I reached out to practice some couples shooting back in August, and I’m still swooning over these photos!

I had never done a couples session before, but I’m SO glad I did, and I can’t wait to do more in the future! We had such a great time walking around Veteran’s Memorial Park, chatting about random life thangs, and having Wade whisper in to Megan’s ear for some candid laughing photos…I’m not sure I want to know what he said that day haha!

Typically, guys don’t get stoked for a session like women do, and we all showed up a little nervous, but at the end of the day, we were all so happy with how these photos turned out, and I’m even more happy that Megan and Wade will have photos they can look back on for years to come.

Investing in Prints

I got some print samples in last week and I am SWOONING over how beautiful they are!

Let’s tacobout why investing in prints is so rad (see what I did there? Now I’m craving tacos):

Think about fun is it to look through an old photo album with friends and family? The ultimate throwback right? Wouldn’t it be amazing to sit down with your future fam and take a walk down memory lane?

How does it make you feel when you see photos hung up in your home, or see photos hung up in your family/friends’ homes? You smile because you see how happy they look…you can almost feel their emotions as if you were there too.

You can re-live that moment every time you see these photos beautifully placed in the spaces of your home.

We live in a digital world now, but how amazing would it be to have printed photos that you can show your kids, nieces, nephews, friends, and future generations… think grandkids! You can sit down with them and tell them the story of that moment. Beautiful right? I know it feels a little crazy to be thinking that far ahead, but I don’t want you to kick yourself later for not getting prints when you had the chance!

I’m happy to announce that ALL my clients will receive a gallery reveal after their session, where I’ll sit down with you and show you the final edits of all your photos, and I’ll help you pick out which print products you want to keep forever!

We’ll work together to find spaces in your home where framed prints, canvas prints, or metal prints would look best, and if you’re wanting an album, I can get you those too! I even have an option for polaroid prints!

I’m here to help every step of the way…our session goes beyond taking the photos!

I can’t wait to get some heirloom items in your homes that will last a lifetime!

It’s been a long time since I’ve busted out a blog post. I want to get in the habit of writing about each and every one of my shoots, but after I did this session with Cady, things EXPLODED! In all the best ways.

As I began this journey with my new photography biz, I started doing trade shoots just to find my groove with things. It wasn’t long before inquiries came in about my fees for sessions. That’s when I realized I had a lot more work to do business wise.

I had no prices set, no system in place, no business plan, and no clear direction in which I wanted to go with my photography.

So, I busted out a couple more trade shoots, and got to work! That’s where I’ve been the last few months…doing all the adulting things and setting the foundation for my little business.

Enough about where I’ve been, let’s talk about this shoot!

Not only do I love Cady because her name is spelled like the character from Mean Girls (whatever, I’m getting cheese fries), but she’s one of those people that you meet and have an instant connection with. You feel like you can talk to her about anything, and she just makes a person feel comfy!

At this point, I wasn’t very confident in my ability to pose someone for a shoot that wasn’t my husband or our dogs, so my anxiety was through the roof.

We got downtown, parked at the very tip top of a parking garage (where we would later end the session), and wandered around downtown.

I was MIND BLOWN when Cady told me she had only been in front of a professional camera twice. TWICE! She was a natural! It was so hard picking out favorites from this one because they were all THAT good.

As the sun started to set, we made our way back to the top of the parking garage, I almost lost my sunglasses off the side of the building while showing her a pose to do (don’t worry, no sunglasses were harmed in the making of these photos), and we got some killer magic hour shots.

All in all, this session was magical, and I can’t wait to shoot with Cady again.

Fourth of July Camping Trip

Our pup Makita is absolutely TERRIFIED of fireworks. While Talon (my husband) and I both love fireworks, the holiday has become extremely stressful for all of us.

We've tried everything from essential oils to calming treats, and turning up the music in the house to drown out the sound of fireworks outside. Poor Makita just wants to hide in her kennel all night. Not fun.

So we packed up and rolled out Tuesday night and headed up to the mountains for four days where we'd be far, far away from any loud scary noises.

It was SO peaceful. We hadn't been to this spot in two years, and it was just as beautiful as I remembered it being. Aside from Stanley, ID, this might be at the top of my list as one of my favorite spots to camp. Watch the'll see why.

I hope everyone had a great fourth! If you have animals that are scared of fireworks, let me know what you do to keep them calm in the comments!

On our wedding day, our photographer took us up off Bogus Basin Road in Boise, Idaho to do our photos. After seeing them, I knew we had to go back and do a shoot with someone else at that location.

Amanda was my maid of honor at our wedding, and her dress was too beautiful not to shoot in again.

Little did we know how amazing the sunset would be that night. The goal was to shoot during magic hour to get good tones in the photos, but damn was the sunset breathtaking.

I'm so incredibly happy with how these turned out! Thanks to my incredible hubs Talon for getting some BTS shots of us being our weirdo selves :)

Kicking off my photography career has been harder than I expected it to be. Not because I'm having trouble creatively, but because I've gotten so used to shooting my husband and our dogs...not other people.

I knew I needed to step out of my comfort zone, and what better way to do that than to shoot a baby and her mama!

Grace turned one this month, and I had SO much fun shooting her for her first birthday! I can't wait to capture year two next year!

Melissa and I grew up across the street from each other as kids, and it's truly incredible to see her raising a beautiful little girl now.

Watching Grace run around the park, learning how to use those legs, and explore her surroundings was so awesome. It made me realize that I need to slow down sometimes and really take in all that this world has to offer.

What Is VOLO?

When I first heard of VOLO, the world’s first ever spiritual based MLM company, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit skeptical. My fiance and I aren't religious. Both raised in the Christian faith and taking a different path as we grew to adulthood, I heard "spiritual" and it freaked me out a bit!

Until I saw this:

There will be programs created specifically to raise the vibration on this planet to one of more love and positivity, towards both self and others. They have already partnered with amazing life & spiritual coaches from around the world to develop life-changing content that will include:

♥ Happiness

♥ Meditation

♥ Mindset

♥ Limiting Beliefs

♥ Relationships

♥ Purpose

♥ Crystal Energy

♥ Law Of Attraction

♥ Manifestation

I was stopped in my tracks. WOAH! Where has this been my whole life?!

you are lovely.jpg

I've always known I wanted to help people, and I knew I wanted to help make the world a better place...somehow, some way, I wanted to be a part of some kind of movement that did just that. That raised the vibration of the planet, and created a ripple effect that radiated around the globe.

I've been on my own spiritual journey for a few years, but through VOLO, I've been able to connect with so many other like minded individuals already that have helped me progress in that area quicker than I've ever been able to do so on my own.

People from all walks of life, from everywhere in the world, connecting to help each other, and spread the word of love, light, and positive energy.

I signed up as a Founding Coach for VOLO two weeks ago and couldn't be more stoked about where this company will be very soon. It's currently in pre-pre-launch mode, with pre-launch estimated to be at the end of April, along with the first challenge called The Soul Warrior Cleanse. More on that soon!

Personally, I struggle with bi-polar disorder, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, and stress. Meditation, daily affirmations, and gratitude have helped me manage ALL these things. My anxiety and stress are almost a thing of the past! Yoga has helped me with my arthritis as well.

Point is...if this can help me, it can definitely help you! As a founding coach, I get all the courses for free which is SO rad since I know I'll for sure be using all of them. I'm so excited to be on my spiritual journey along side other coaches so we can all learn and grow together as a team.

We're still under 700 coaches, which means you'd be coming in at the perfect time! This is going to be HUGE!

If the stars have aligned and you're being pulled to get more info about the world's first ever spiritual MLM (Multi Level MOVEMENT), VOLO, please don't hesitate to reach out to me on Facebook at: Heather Burnette or shoot me an email at'd love to connect with you!

With Volo's courses, I'm ready to level up in life...are you?

The Ultimate Daily Struggle

I was going to include this in my weekly struggles video this week, but it was so long that I had to make it separate. So here's one of two videos coming your way today!

If your kids want pets, and you're not ready for all that, just show them this video and all of the responsibilities that come with're welcome.

Love & Light,

Weekly Struggles Episode 1

Listen...we all struggle daily, and all our struggles are different. My purpose of these weekly struggle videos is to show people that life isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

Someone said to me today, "you live the simple life." Now, maybe I read this wrong, but my life is FAR. FROM. SIMPLE. My fiance says I'm "organized chaos." Quite life is mostly a shit show.

My Instagram shows the still moments polished with a pretty filter and carefully planned out and scheduled in an app. My YouTube Channel is there to show you a little sliver of what is like outside of Instagram.

I hope you enjoy watching me ride the struggle bus last week. I caught the plague and I'm finally starting to feel a little better. Not as deathly as I was in this video ha!

Love & Light,

Guess who's back...back again?

I hope you caught the Slim Shady reference in the blog title...I may or may not have actually said it out loud.

Anywhoooooo! Here I am! Back at this blogging/vlogging thing again! I'm REEEALLY hoping that the angle I'm going about it this time around is more suitable and keeps me going. Word Press was a BEAST and I honestly spent so much time fussing with it that I lost all interest in blogging.

I'm kicking things off with this new vlog post that's live now over on my YouTube channel! I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of YouTube. Stupid little things like getting my profile picture to save, having videos come up on my home tab, etc, etc. With time, I'll get it all sorted out. If you have any tips, feel free to drop them in a comment below! Yuh girl can use all the help!

Here's the new vid! I hope you'll subscribe and life and comment and all that jazz :)

I'm trying to mesh all my creative brain things in to this blog and over on the vlog. I hope it flows, and if not...meh. #YOLO. Yes, I still say #YOLO.

Shoutout to all the people who have encouraged me to start blogging again, writing me to let me know they miss reading my posts. You're all the real VIPs and I love each and every one of you for uplifting me and supporting me as my mind changes as often as I change my underwear.

If you're reading this, leave a comment! I'd love to hear from all of you!

Love & Light,
